This one almost makes it to a 5 for me, but I can't stand it when they rushed Eyes of the World.

Really, Really Hot Show With Stunning Sound
. . .
A phenomenal show. The band is hyped--just exudes energy. Jerry is in particularly fine form--just tears it up. Check out his intro line into the Me & My Uncle jam--it may be too good to be legal. Phil and Bob are lockstep with Jerry, just all in completely different ways.
The sound is just totally amazing. The clarity of the interplay between Jerry and Bob is something else again. Great live feel for a board.
Rob, Charlie, and Scott-- thank you--HUGELY appreciate it. This made my month. Sound beyond description and a fireworks display of a show. Totally worked for me.
Thanks for uploading it Matt. I hope a lot of people listen to this one. It deserves it.
Set openers of Sugaree and Shakedown. Really hot versions of both with inspired interplay between Jerry and Bob. A tonal blast Tennessee Jed and a towering Estimated-->Eyes are two other absolute jewels. Judging from my feet during these songs, this music can cause protracted body movement over which voluntary control has been lost.
This recording of this show is one slammin' listening experience. If I had known how good it was going to be, I would have made extra, ah, preparations for listening to it, including a very wide time slot. It would absolutely be worth doing that. Effervesent vodoo between Jerry, Phil, and Bob throughout--amazing clarity, detail, and tone. Keith has a few areas that are strident and that really seem to miss the groove, but those areas have a pretty much de minimis effect on an overall masterpiece. Hell, even the drums and space are compelling.
This show is also a real rocket from beginning to end. Damn near everything is totally juiced.
I was totally blown away by how hot this was. I knew from the guy who turned me on to it that it would be good, but had somewhat tempered expectations -- Some stuff from 1978 is really hot, but some I find a bit lacking in the energy department.
This show is unlikely to ever get that criticism. Pretty unlikely that any sentient mammal wouldn't find this show really hot.
One of those ever so great alignments when the guitar playing, mix, and overall sound quality get together.
This is a recording that I would be very likely to pick to play for someone that knows music but has't gotten into the band. Quite yet. This is steal your face stuff.
Get good and ready, give yourself plenty of time, and listen to this puppy really, really, really loud (as God intended) and from beginning to end without disturbances. This one you should plan on listening to loudly enough to burn some hearing, at least listening to the first time. You won't regret it. Jerry seems to work every note and Bob goes between his percussive funk licks to screaming, bent explosions of tone. There are a bunch of places where it is glorious. A show this good totally deserves the effort to listen to it right: You will be really glad if you take the time to do so.
Let's put it this way: I heard it the first time starting about 8 PM tonight. Six hours later and I am almost through with listening to the first set a second time. The question isn't whether I will finish listening to it a second time tonight, but whether I will listen to it a third time before crashing. A massive high energy ride.
